Kayts Police arrested a person who bit the chin of a Police Constable while trying to escape arrest, when a Police team raided a gambling den on Sunday night.
The Police Constable who was injured in the incident has been admitted to the Kayts Hospital. It is said that six or seven people were engaged in gambling when the Police officers stormed the gambling den in the Kayts area on Sunday night.
All of the gamblers had fled the scene after seeing the officers. Police Constable Dharmendran who was amongst the Police team that raided the place had given chase and apprehended one of the gamblers.
The Suspect had then assaulted the Police Constable and tried hard to escape from his grasp. An officer of the Kayts Police said the suspect had also bitten the Police Constable’s chin causing injuries but Constable Dharmendran refused to back down and had held on to the suspect with much effort. The 33-year-old suspect is to be produced in Court.
