Vijayapala College, Matale under 14 stickers were awarded a “ Gold Star “ in group “G” at the boys All Island Schools Hockey tournament, organised and conducted by the Sri-Lanka Schools Hockey Association, played in Matale recently.
In their matches, they beat St. Aloysius, Galle by 4 goals to nil, Kangalla MV by 3 goals to nil, Kegalu Vidyalaya, Kegalle by 8 goals to nil and drew with Dharmadutha College, Badulla nil all.
These youngsters are grateful for the Principal for helping them to start Hockey from a young age and also appointing a Teacher in charge who could play a supportive role and the guidance from the coach K.A.D.D.S Madhubasha enabled them to achieve this award.
