Special ‘Janaraja Perahera’ from Dalada Maligawa to mark National Day

The Dalada Maligawa will hold a special procession (“Janaraja Perahera”) on February 18 in view of the 75th National Independence Day.

A preliminary discussion in this regard was held on Wednesday. Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela Bandara  said the Dalada Maligawa has held the “Janaraja Perahera” at several special occasions in the past on the request of the Government.

The “Janaraja” emblem will be carried in a procession with elephants and tuskers on that day.

The Dalada Maligawa previously conducted special processions to mark the opening of the “Ran Viyana” (the Canopy over the Sacred Tooth Relic) and the war victory.
