Sri Lankan Captain Dasun Shanaka was a victim of a 155kph thunderbolt by Indian seamer Umran Malik during the first Twenty20 International played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, India on Tuesday.
Young pacer Malik made a sensational home debut in his first T20I with excellent figures of two for 27 as India edged out Sri Lanka by two runs to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
Malik had played in five One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three T20I games before playing his first international game at home. The Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer made it a special occasion by breaking the fastest delivery bowled by an Indian pacer at home.
Malik broke the record of Jasprit Bumrah, who has been clocked at 153.36kph, by bowling a 155kph thunderbolt to dismiss Shanaka. Malik also broke his own record of 153kph ball bowled during IPL 2021 against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
