Vidusha Janani Perera from Campbell Recreation Club who represented Asia Cup champion National Netball team received Rs.500,000 cash award at the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) Recreation Department Colours awards ceremony held at Mattakkuliya Chursh Street Hall on last Tuesday.
CMC Recreation Department organized this event and Colombo Mayor Rosy Senanayake was the chief guest. The champion National team also received special cash awards at this ceremony.
Angaja Umanga of Stanley Janz Recreation club was named best under 20 Basketball player while M.F.M Ameen of Madampa Recreation Club was adjudged best bodybuilder and received their colours and cash awards. M.F.M Faqeer of Belment Community Centre won the best open carrom player award Hiruni Nimesha of the same club won the best women’s Elle player award. Dhanushka Priyasad of 17th Lane Recreation club was named best male Elle player while M.I Mohammd of P.D Sirisena Recreation club won the best under 16 football player award.
Sachini Sulochana of Campbell Recreation Club was awarded best junior Netball queen while Janindara Nethara of same club won the best Netball senior ‘A’ division queen award. Sawan Induwara and Dhakshina Thamodi were named best male and female Table Tennis players while Mohammad Rifki of Nawagampura Recreation Club was named best Volleyball player and best female Volleyball player award was won by Hirushi Nimesha .
Sri Lanka Netball Federation President Victoria Lakshmi and senior officials of CMC were present on this occasion.
