A team of Anti-corruption Division officials in Kandy arrested a 22-year-old woman along with a person who ran a brothel supplying prostitutes at high prices.
The brothel situated between the Malwatu Maha Viharaya and a leading Girls school was operating under the guise of a hotel providing accommodation to tourists.
Further investigations have revealed that this centre charged Rs.15,000 each from customers. The hotel cum brothel was raided by the Police by deploying a decoy on the instructions of Kandy SSP Chamil Ratnayake.
Police said that the Manager of the hotel arranged to supply women to customers, after they reserved a room by paying Rs.5,000 to him.
The Manager used to show the photos of women available at the centre and the customers were given the choice of making their selection according to the amount that they were able to pay.Police said that the young woman who was brought by the Manager at the time of the raid was a 22-year-old girl who had completed her Advanced Levels in the Science stream at a leading school in Kandy. The Manager had fixed a price of Rs.10,000 for this particular girl.
