Failure of COPF has Sri Lanka in this predicament - Harsha

SJB Parliamentarian Dr. Harsha De Silva yesterday said that some in Sri Lanka don’t know the difference between the Executive and the Legislature and the duty of the Committee on Public Finance (COPF) is to critically evaluate and approve Bills, regulations on revenue, expenditure and debt.

“It is because COPF failed that Sri Lanka is in this predicament,” Dr. Silva tweeted. However De Silva added that Parliament does not have Executive Powers and those powers are with the President and the Cabinet.

“Parliament’s job is to legislate, make and amend laws and control public finance by vote and via committee,” he tweeted.
