Two suspects in immigration racket held in Negombo

Navy and Police in Negombo on January 4 held two suspects who have collected money from people promising jobs in a foreign country and facilitating them to migrate there.

The search operation was carried out in Negombo with the assistance of Negombo Police on information by the Naval Intelligence Unit. They intercepted a suspicious car the suspects were travelling in. The suspects have collected Rs. 5 million from 20 people promising them overseas jobs.

The suspects, aged 30 and 41, are residents of Chilaw and Kilinochchi. They were handed over to the Negombo Police.

The public are warned by the Navy of such rackets and avoid being caught in these illegal attempts.
