Windies Cricket Academy in Matale clinched both under 14 and under 12 titles at the T- 15 cricket tournament organized by Sanlon CA Nuwara Eliya with Windies Cricket Academy , Our Ladies College CA and Gamini NSCA recently held in Nuwara eliya.
Himeth Panditharatne of WCA and Reyhan Raheemdeen of WCA were adjudged under 14 and under 12 man of the tournament respectively. WCA won 7 out of 8 mtches in the series and grabbed both titles in grand style.At the under 14 tournament they won 3 out of 3 and in under 12 Tournament they recorded 4 out of 5 to emerge champions. The first game of under 14 WCA beat Stanlons CA by 3 wickets while Himeth made 49 to guided WCA win .In the second game WCA beat Our Lady College by 17 runs .In the third game once again WCA won by 26 runs over Gamini NSCS while Himeth was the match winner scoring a fine knock of 91 and Achintha and Danula took bowling honours to take two wickets each for winning WCA.The fourth game WCA won by 7 wickets over Our Lady CA while Harsha Bahuka was the match winner taking 3 for 12 .
Sugath Wijesundara Chief Inspector of Police and officer in charge Poodaluoya Police Station was the chief guest and gave away the awards while Ravi Punchihewa the Head of Windies cricket Academy who is a qualified match referee of Sri Lanka Cricket graced the occasion.
