Two badminton officials to officiate int’l tourneys

Two badminton technical officials Lakpriya Edirisinghe and Chaturanga Vishwanath have left yesterday to officiate International Badminton tournament approved by the World Badminton Federation (WBF).

Lakpriya Edirisinghe the senior international badminton umpire having accredited from WBF is expected to officiate Petronas Malaysian Open Badminton tournament which is scheduled to be held from today (10) to 15 in Malaysia and Yonex Sunrise India open Badminton tournament which will be held from 17-22 in India. Vishwanath is expected to officiate only Yonex Sunrise India open Badminton tournament.

Lakpriya Edirisinghe the former National pool player and reputed badminton umpire and referee had more International tournament experience as an umpire while he was last time selected to officiate the Paralympic games in Tokyo where badminton is first time introduced to the game.

He already officiated more than 100 international tournaments including Commonwealth Games and three world championships. Lakpriya Edirisinghe will officiate this two tournaments.

Meanwhile Chaturanga Vishwanath the technical official from who is woking as a physical Education teacher at Agrabodhi college also a qualified as an Asian badminton umpire in 2013 and he was qualified as an umpire of world badminton Federation in 2022.
