Havelock SC rallied around magnificently in the second half to pull off a convincing 31-15 victory over Army SC in their SLR Nippon Paint Inter-Club League Rugby Tournament first-round encounter played at Ratmalana yesterday.
The second half of this game was played at Ratmalana after the scheduled fixture between the two teams had to be called off due to bad weather at the Army Grounds in Panagoda on Saturday.
The Havies started the second half of this game with a 17-8 lead and they consolidated their position beautifully while collecting their points from four goals and one penalty while the Soldiers responded with one penalty goal, one try and one penalty.
Havelock SC scored their third try in the 62nd minute when dashing wing three quarter Mithun Hapugoda added the finishing touches to a superb three quarter move with fly half Sandesh Jayawickrema adding the extra points.
However, Army SC made a comeback courtesy of a penalty try in the 68th minute to reduce the margin before Shenaka Herath scored a last-minute try for Havelock SC to make it 31-15.
