Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage yesterday permitted former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa to travel abroad for 10 days from January 20 to January 31. Seventeen individuals including former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, ex-Minister Namal Rajapaksa had been banned from travelling abroad in connection with the ongoing investigations into the attack on the protesters in Galle Face and in Kollupitiya.
The Magistrate ordered to temporary lift the travel ban imposed on former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa subject to two conditions. The Criminal Investigations Department informed the Magistrate that the Attorney General has given his consent in this regard.
