Former Sri Lanka paceman Chaminda Vaas who is presently working as the Head Coach of the Dhaka Dominators team at the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) said that the new role gives much-needed exposure for his coaching career while it's Vaas' first overseas franchise-based tournament.
"I am really happy to work with Bangladesh cricketers as well as some foreign players in the BPL. As a former paceman, I have good experience but here in Bangladesh, they organize this tournament with very high quality", said Vaas.
"I have one Sri Lankan player Dilshan Munaweera the dashing opener in my team and most of the other players are local. All my supporting staff members are Bangladeshis.
Here in Bangladesh, priority is given to the local players at these types of tournaments. The Bangladesh Cricket Board always put a high value on the local youngsters", added Chaminda.
Vass was a former National Bowling Coach of the Sri Lanka team and for a short period, he worked with the coaching staff of the New Zealand team during the Sri Lanka series.
"I used to play and bowl with more confidence. and my new role will give me more confidence", said Chaminda Vaas.
