Dynamic fly half of CH and FC Nethmina Hirusha has emerged as the top points scorer after the completion of the fourth week of matches in the 2022/23 SLR Nippon Paint Inter-Club League Rugby Tournament.
The reliable place kicker from Maitland Crescent figured in a vain effort with a contribution of 14 points as CH and FC went down 19-27 against their arch-rivals CR and FC in a first-round encounter at the Racecourse Grounds in Colombo.
Nethmina kept his team’s hopes alive almost until the final whistle as he fired across four important penalties and added the extra points to their solitary try to complete a memorable outing.
Meanwhile, CR and FC fly half Mohan Chathura was also in excellent form as he steered the Longden Place Club to another morale boosting victory with a contribution of 12 points.
Chathura produced another match winning performance as he converted CR and FC’s all three tries and booted two penalties to complete a successful outing.
CR and FC’s wing three quarter Gemunu Chethiya also had a memorable outing as he scored twice against the CH and FC to finish in third place among the top individual performers during the week.
