A special CID team last night arrested Ethimale Police OIC for providing cannabis to Moneragala SSP Sisila Kumara Herath. CID sources said that these 650 cannabis plants have been taken into police custody by Ethimale Police during a raid and the stock had been given to the Moneragala SSP Sisira Kumara Herath later.
The SSP was arrested by the STF personnel on January 8 with a stock of dry cannabis weighing over 15 kilograms at his official residence.
The investigation into the incident was handed over to the CID on the directive of IGP two days ago.
