Indian arrested over clash in Weligama

Weligama Police on Tuesday arrested an Indian national, who had been wanted in connection with an assault to another individual, following a dispute between two groups at a New Year’s Eve party at a tourist hotel in Pelena, Weligama.

The Indian national, who had been absconding, had surrendered to the Police through a lawyer. A resident in Weligama and three Indian nationals had sustained injuries as a result of the clash.The two groups which had clashed are surfing sportsmen.Weligama Police previously arrested two Sri Lankans in connection with the same incident.
