PC who sold vehicle batteries in court interdicted

A Police Constable and two others were arrested by Kalpitiya Police on Wednesday for allegedly removing batteries of a lorry and a three-wheeler, parked at the Kalpitiya Magistrate’s Court premises as court productions.

The PC, who was attached to the Puttalam Police, had allegedly removed the batteries of the vehicles and sold them at Rs 4,500 to another two people, while he was deployed for the security of the Court. Those who bought the batteries had taken them out in a lorry after agreeing to pay him later.

The Kalpitiya Police had searched the lorry on a tip-off received to them.The PC has been interdicted, and all suspects were to be produced before Court.
