A member of the Kundasale Pradeshiya Sabha and two others, who were wanted by the Police in relation to the theft of a monument well-known as Sandagala, weighing more than 1,000 kilos from the Kundasale Udamaluwa Archaeological Reserve have surrendered to courts yesterday.
The suspects were remanded till January 23 after being produced before court yesterday. It has also been revealed that one of the persons who surrendered with the Pradeshiya Sabha member is a businessman from Kundasale and he is a money lender and a resident of the Kundasale Mahawatta area.
It is also reported that this businessman has taken a boom machine on a rental basis from the Coordinating Secretary of a Minister who runs a business in the Aruppala area.
The Criminal Investigation Department is investigating the incident and another lorry along with the booming machine belonging to the businessman of the Aruppola area has been taken into police custody.
