Depressed man severs his testicles, suffers

An incident where a person has cut his own testicles by a hooked stick was reported from the Kumbukgete police division in Kurunegala yesterday.

The relatives have admitted this person aged 65 to the Polpithigama Base hospital in critical condition due to severe bleeding following the incident.

Hospital sources said that the family members had brought the testicles fallen on the ground after putting them into a polythene bag.

He was later transferred to the Kurunegala Teaching hospital, a hospital official said. Police said the person in question is suffering from depression as his wife and a son committed suicide a few months ago.
