Three persons including a Police Constable who had been deployed for the security of the Kalpitiya Magistrate’s Court who had been taken into custody in connection with removing batteries from a lorry and a three-wheeler which had been parked in the premises and case exhibits and selling them have been remanded till January16 subsequent to being produced in Court.
The Police Constable named Gamini Senerath Bandara who had been deployed at the Puttalam Police Station together with a businessman engaged in collecting old iron and his helper have been remanded thus.
The constable who had been on security duty had carried out this theft on January 11.The Kalpitiya police said that this police officer had sold the two batteries for Rs.4,500.
