Assistant Manager died due to attack with blunt weapons – Post-mortem

Police said that the cause of death of the Assistant Manager who was arrested by the Police Narcotics Bureau in connection with drug trafficking was due to internal bleeding as a result of being attacked with blunt weapons.

This had been revealed subsequent to the Post-mortem by Consultant Judicial Medical Officer Ajith Tennakone in response to an order issued by the Maligakanda Magistrate.

The deceased was 41-year-old A. G. S. Preethi Kumara, a resident of Telwatte, Hikkaduwa.

He was taken into custody near the Vocational Training Authority had then been taken to the Police Special Task Force Barracks in Maradana when the suspect had broken a bottle and attempted to assault the police officers. Ensuing brawl between police and the suspect resulted in his admission to hospital where he died.

Maradana Police are investigating.
