Showers forecast

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, Western, Central and North Western Provinces during the afternoon or night.

Fairly heavy showers about 75mm can be expected at some places in the Southern, Sabaragamuwa and Uva Provinces, the Meteorology Department said.

Several spells of showers may occur in Eastern Province and in the Polonnaruwa district.

The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
