Sri Lankan women's cricket team led by Vishmi Gunaratne opened their ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup campaign with an easy 7-wicket win over USA on Saturday at Benoni, South Africa. After this victory Sri Lanka lasses will take on Bangladesh today at Benoni, South Africa commence at 1.30om ( Sri Lanka time)

USA were limited to 96 for the loss of 9 wickets, leaving the Lankan lasses what could be termed an easy target to seal the win with one over to spare.

However, an unbeaten 54-run stand between skipper Vishmi Gunaratne (34) and Manudi Nanayakkara (32) saw them home with an over to spare and this victory made real boost to Sri Lanka team. The team Manager Indrani Ariyaratne said our young women's team is in good shape to build up confidence after the USA game victory. They defeated Zimbabwe and Scotland at their warm up games while winning against USA paved the way to develop more confidence and ready to go forward.

Vishmi Gunaratne gave good leadership and was adjudged the best player of the USA game while today they will play with tough side Bangladesh who beat Australia by seven wickets on the opening day.
