Protest over robbery at Maha Saman Devalaya

More than 500 local residents engaged in a protest in front of the Sabaragamuwa Maha Saman Devalaya, demanding the speedy arrest of those who have robbed the cash offerings of the devotees. 

Robbers had entered the devalaya on January 8 through the roof into the room of the Basnayake Nilame’s residence where cash offerings from devotees are kept and had escaped with the money.

The protesters said they believe some people affiliated to the Devalaya itself may be behind the robbery and urged the Police to arrest the robbers as soon as possible.
