His body was recovered inside a room in the College’s Sports Complex, with his limbs tied.
The victim, Udul Sampath, was a resident of Thummodara, Bandaragama. He was employed by a private security firm, and was deployed for the security of the College’s Sports Complex about two weeks ago. A father of a student had first seen the body and had informed the College. The father had come to the Sports Complex to collect an umbrella his son had forgotten the previous day.
The Police Kennels Division, Police quarters and the security unit of Kandy Sumangala Vidyalaya are located within a radius of 100 metres to the crime scene. Police suspect a personal dispute could have been the reason behind the killing. The Police said two suspects had come to the Sports Complex on a motorcycle a day before the incident.
