Power will not be disconnected during the 14 day period when the GCE A/L Examination is held.
The Power and Energy Minister has informed Cabinet of Ministers that the Education Ministry had requested for continuous electricity supply without any disturbance during the 14-day period of the GCE A/L examination and that they would somehow make it necessary to provide electricity to the children during the examination period, Cabinet Spokesman Mass Media Minister Dr.Bandula Gunawardane said. The minister said this while speaking at the Cabinet media briefing held yesterday at the Government Information Department.
The Energy Minister informed that it is a task that must be done for the benefit of the children and teachers and for that purpose, Rs.five billion is required for the additional 14 days without power cuts. The minister further said that it is necessary to find Rs.357 million per day to supply electricity for 14 days.
