National Zoo Management Training Institute to be formed

A National Academy on Animal Conservation and Zoological Garden Management will be established shortly to provide opportunities for local and foreign students to study and receive training, the Agriculture, Wildlife and Forest Resources Conservation Ministry said.

The Ministry, in a media release yesterday, said the proposed educational institution would come under the National Zoological Gardens Department.

Observing that about 300 groups of foreign students from countries such as China, Australia, Spain, Netherlands, India, Latvia, Czechoslovakia, Pakistan, Malaysia and Great Britain had come to this country in the past to receive training in wildlife conservation and zoo management, the Ministry stated that the new Academy would also be an opportunity to earn foreign exchange.
