With the recently concluded Sri Lanka Schools Under 18, Division A Basketball Tournement, St.Joseph’s College, Colombo 10, emerged champions in the All Island School Games, 2022, Under 18 and 20 Basketball Championships. The tournament was conducted by the Sri Lanka Basketball Association.
The College also emerged as champions in the Under 17, All-Island Schools Basketball Tournement as well as Western Province, Basketball Tournement, 2022 organized by the Ministry of Education.
Results:
Under-17 All Island School Games, Basket Ball Tournament: In the Finals, St. Joseph’s College, Colombo beat Lyceum College, Wattala by 53 to 38 and emerged as Champions.The victorious Josephians were captained by Methika Jayasinghe.
Western Province Basketball Tournement - Under-17 Boys Tournament: In the finals, St.Joseph’s College, Colombo 10 beat Ananda College, Colombo-10, by 67 to 41 and emerged champions.
Under-18 All Island School Games, Basket Ball Tournament: In the finals, St. Joseph’s College, Colombo beat Gateway School, Rajagiriya by 63 to 53 and emerged champions. The team was captained by Charaka Perera. Joes won two individual awards: Most Valuable Player- Methika Jayasinghe (SJC), Best Offensive Player – Abhaya Gajamange (SJC)
Under-20 All Island School Games, Basketball Tournament: In the finals, St. Joseph’s College, Colombo beat Royal College,Colombo 7, by 68 to 52 and emerged champions. The team was captained by Shehan Fernando. Joes bagged two individual awards: Most Valuable Player- Shehan Fernando (SJC), Best Offensive Player – Keith Costa (SJC)
Rev. Fr. Ranjith Andradi, the Rector praised and thanked the young Josephians for their laborious work, dedication, determination, passion and discipline to bring honour and glory to the College.
He also thanked Rev.Fr.Samesh Anthony, Prefect of Games, Rev.Fr. Priyan Tissera, Former Prefect of Games, Basketball, Randima Sooriyaarachchi and Shane Daniel, co-coaches and Hemal Fernando, the Master-in-Charge for their guidance.
