Book on ‘Techniques of Securities for Bank Lending’ donated to Jaffna Library

Former banker Charles Rajanathan recently presented the Jaffna Library with printed and digital copies of his book titled ‘Techniques of Securities for Bank Lending with an Insight to Life & Times of a Banker’.  

According to the author this book immensely value for present day bankers who are engaged in credit assignments and also to enhance their knowledge of the banking sector.  

During the event, author Rajanathan said this book was written in memory of his father Emmanuel Vincent Samuel who was a member of the Jaffna Public Library.   

He said the book will be an ideal textbook for Bankers especially the Bankers who are engaged in Credit appraisal.  

The Library officials also thanked the author for sharing his expertise with other bankers who are engaged in the field of Credit Administration.  

The Jaffna Public Library is considered to be the largest and the oldest Library in Asia and it has large collection of over 102,000 valuable books and periodicals written in all three Languages.  

It is said majority schoolchildren, university students, university academics, post graduate and under graduate students and also research students are using the Library books very often.  

Rajanathan also presented a copy of this book to former Central Bank Governor Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy.  

He said he published the book to share his expertise in the field of various types of securities for bank lending, its operational aspects and mitigation of risk.  

He said the initial chapter of the book gives an insight to the Life & Times of Bankers of yesteryear.  

Rajanathan also served in major banks including the Pan Asia Bank, Union Bank of Colombo and the Amana Bank, the Cargills Bank.
