The Rehabilitation Bureau Bill is not a move to hunt down youth involved in Aragalaya or
persons holding different political opinions, Justice Minister Dr. Wijeyedasa Rajapakshe said.
The Minister made this observation in Parliament yesterday (18) joining in the debate on the Rehabilitation Bureau Bill.
Minister Rajapakshe noted that the term “youth who had gone astray” was depicted as a term used to define youth involved in the Aragalaya and as a result, the society had a bad impression on the Bill.
Minister Rajapakshe noted that laws on rehabilitation go back 18 years. He also said that the Act will only be limited to rehabilitating youths engaged in drug addiction.
