Police disperse Pera protest in Galaha

A protest campaign launched by Peradeniya University students citing that students are being arrested by the police arbitrarily

 was dispersed by the police by using water cannons and tear gas yesterday evening. Police dispersed the students as they overran police roadblocks at Galaha junction despite repeated requests not to proceed beyond the junction at around 5 p.m.

The students charged that student leaders are being targeted by the police following alleged attack on Prof.Athula Senaratne and his family members.
