The Police Child and Women Abuse Prevention Bureau took into custody a constable attached to the Special Task Force (STF) on Thursday (19) for having subjected his mistress’s 12- year-old daughter to severe sexual abuse.This officer has been deployed at the Kollupitiya Camp.
Investigations have revealed that his wife had left him. The Child and Women Abuse Prevention Bureau said that he now lives with a mother of three who is his mistress.
It is said that it was the eldest daughter of the woman who had been sexually abused this constable.Based on a complaint made the girl’s mother, to the Child and Women Abuse Prevention Bureau, the constable involved had been asked to come on several occasions to give a statementsubsequent to investigations being launched, however he had failed to do so, the Bureau said. A top police officer said that subsequent to the murder of a university student at the Racecourse grounds, this particular police constable is said to have messaged his mistress saying “the same thing will happen to you,” and as the woman had lodged a complaint with the Child and Women Abuse Prevention Bureau, immediate action was taken to arrest the constable involved.
When questioned, the constable had said that he had written the house located at Mulleriyawa, belonging to him with life interest to the woman. He had also said that she was attempting to chase him away from the house and take it over. The constable had stated further that the woman had even tried to sell the house.
However, the Child and Women Abuse Prevention Bureau stated that it has become clear after the girl, alleged to have been abused, was examined by a Judicial Medical Officer and a subsequent investigation that the possibility of the girl being sexually abused cannot be overlooked.
