Sri Lanka’s Madumali Perera put up a splendid performance to finish second at the Bangabandhu Sheik Mujid Dhaka Women’s Marathon held in Dhaka, Bangladesh yesterday.
Madumali from Navy SC returned a time of 2:48:22s to finish behind the winner Pushpa Bhandari from Nepal who clocked 2:48:02s.
Sri Lanka’s Wathsala Madushani took fifth place in the Women’s Marathon with a time of 2:54:20s.
Meanwhile, in the Men’s Marathon, Sri Lanka’s Sisira Kumara secured fifth place when he clocked 2:24:48s with India’s Bangriya Vikram claiming the Gold Medal with a time of 2:18:28s.
A total of 12 Sri Lankan long distance runners participated in this event, which attracted over 1,000 top foreign athletes.
