A Nigerian national who is engaged in financial frauds by deceiving women in this country through social media was arrested by Mirihana police officers on Sunday evening (22), while he was staying at a house in Gangodawila.
Police had raided his residence following information that a suspicious Nigerian national was staying at a house in the area. His passport too was not with him when the arrest was made, police said.
Investigations have revealed that this 40-year-old Nigerian man named N.E.Christopher has been in the country for several years and has been engaged in various fraudulent activities. Mirihana Police say that the officers of the Computer Crime Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department have arrested him even before this.
Mirihana Police say that cases are pending against him in the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court and the Maligakanda Magistrate's Court. Investigations have revealed that he is currently out of prison on bail.
