Constable attached to CID assaulted

Colombo Fort Police have initiated an investigation into the incident where a constable attached to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) was assaulted by an unidentified individual in Colombo, on Thursday (19) night.

He had been assaulted in front of the Junior Officers’ Mess in Colombo Fort by a person who approached him from behind. The officer was admitted to the Police Hospital, Narahenpita.

The suspect is yet to be identified by the police.
