The Prisons Department states that a specialist from the National Institute of Psychiatry is scheduled to visit the prison today (24) to obtain a psychiatric report of Pasindu Chaturanga, the University student, who is accused of murdering a female student of the Colombo University at the Colombo race course recently.
The ‘B’ report related to the investigation has been received by the Prisons Department and along with it the medical report of the specialist doctor of the National Institute of Psychiatry on the suspect too will be submitted to the Court.
The suspect had earlier submitted medical reports to claim he had a mental illness previously.
However, the court ordered a medical examination be conducted on the student by a specialist doctor from the National Institute of Psychiatry and submit the report to the Court.
