Naduni Umasha the hockey star from HFC, Wennappuwa

Seventh year Hockey player playing in the Right Half position Member of the North Western Inter Provincial Open Hockey Championship in 2016, Captain of the school under 18 All Island Champion team and her house under 15 team. Member of the Blue and Gold Sevens Hockey Tournament organized by Royal College Colombo and Rajans Sevens in 2017, Member of the under 20 team of All Island Tournament and District Champion team in 2020 and Member of the All Island Hockey Ladies Schools National Champion Team in 2022 Naduni Umasha Fernando has brought honour and glory to her alma mater Holy Family Convent Wennappuwa with her deeds in the field of Hockey.   

Naduni who hails from Wennappuwa was born on May 25 2003 and admitted to her present school in 2009. Initially she was selected to the under 13 team in 2016 for the Sri Lanka Schools Tournament held in Galle and they were the Runner up and her second attempt was at the school inter house hockey tournament and they came second and in the same year they were the Open Provincial Champions and she took part in the Gold and Blue Royal College Sevens under 14 and Rajans Hockey Sevens under 19 tournament and received certificates of Merit and in the All Island Schools Tournament in the under 15 age group they won the third place and in the Puttalam District Open Championship her team were victorious.   

In 2018 her team participated in the All Island under 20 Inter Schools Hockey Tournament and they came second and in the same year she captained her under 15 house team and in the All Island Schools Tournament they were the under 18champions and in the under 16 All Island Tournament they were the Runners up and at the schools tournament she played for the House Team and in 2019 at the under 20 All Island Tournament they were the second Runner up and in the District Championship Open meet they were the under 18 third place and in 2020 they were District Open Champions and in 2020 and 2021 there was no tournaments due to Corona virus and in the 2022 All Island National Schools Championship her school emerged champions.
