CaFFE fast tracks ‘Janani’

The Executive Director of Campaign for Free and Fair Elections (CaFFE) Mannas Makeen said that a series of workshops to enhance digital literacy among female members of Local Government bodies and build confidence to face the media at press briefings, known as ‘Janani’ has been fast tracked with campaigning for the March 9 Local Government poll ready to commence.

‘Janani’ was conducted as a series of three workshops covering all 25 administrative districts in the island and held at either district level or provincial level.

Between 30 to 35 participants were selected from the districts in the Northern, Eastern, Uva, Sabaragamuwa and Southern Provinces while a similar number was selected from each of the other districts for the workshops.

A panel comprising of the Executive Director of the Institute for Democratic Reforms and Electoral Studies Manjula Gajanayake, Chief Editor Hi TV Harindra Nissanka, Media Researcher Varshini Kalawarshini, Senior Journalist J Yoga Raj, former Commissioner of Local Government Dharmasiri Nanayakkara and Director (Legal) of CaFFE Harindra Banagala conducted the programme.
