Driving licence to mobile phone soon

The Motor Traffic Department yesterday said they will formulate a method of issuing the driving licence to the mobile phone. 

Commissioner General of the Department Nishantha Weerasinghe said that discussions on this programme are currently underway.

He said that after the implementation of this new system, a card will not be required for a driver’s licence and it will be sent to the mobile phone and a person who needs it can also get the card, he said.

He added that there is a delay in driving licence printing. “It will be more convenient when the driver’s licence is issued to the mobile phone.
