Law will be imposed firmly on human traffickers - Manusha

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) has instructed the Police Department to raid and apprehend the racketeers involved in human trafficking and smuggling. 

The Labour and Foreign Employment Ministry convened a special meeting under the instruction of Labour and  Foreign Employments Minister Manusha Nanayakkara recently where Public Security Ministry Tiran Allas and IGP Wickramarathne and high ranking officials of the Foreign Employment Bureau and the Department of Migration and Immigration were and agreed to impose maximum punishments against those who smuggle humans. 

Human Resources Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Dr. Abdulrahman Abdulmanna AL Awar has emphasized to Minister Manusha Nanayakkara during his recent official tour in the UAE that the laws would be very strict on those who supply humans illegally to the UAE. 

Minister Manusha Nanayakkara brought to the special notice of the Emirates Human Resources that the Sri Lankan migrants visit the UAE on tourist visas has been facing numerous difficulties and therefore, there should be a bilateral programme to prevent those who seek jobs on tourist visas being misguided and exploited by racketeers.

Ambassador of Switzerland in Sri Lanka Dominik Furgler has promised to extend fullest corporation and support to the Labour and Foreign Employment Ministry in the implementation of proposed digitalization of the foreign employment field and the social assurance methodology, when he met the minister Manusha Nanayakkara at the ministry recently to curtail illegal activities in the field.
