Four Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) have been appointed to oversee work of DIGs and six Senior Superintendents of Police and Superintendents of Police have been transferred.
The Police Media Spokesperson’s Office stated that IGP C.D. Wickramaratne has made these appointments and ordered the transfers subject to the approval of the National Police Commission, the Election Commission, and the Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security.
Accordingly, SSP in charge of Puttalam Division, Ajith Hesiri, has been appointed as Acting Deputy Inspector General of Badulla, the Director of Police Legal Division, SSP Ruwan Gunasekara, is the Acting Deputy Inspector General of Police, of the Legal Division while the SSP in charge of the Batticaloa Division I.B.T. Sugathapala has been appointed as the Acting Deputy Inspector General of Police Kalutara and Director of Human Rights Division SSP Oshan Hewavitharana as the Acting Deputy Inspector General of Police of Wanni.Other appointments have been made to fill the vacancies arising with this change of posts.
Accordingly, Bandarawela SSP Kalinga Jayasinghe has been appointed as the Director of the Police Legal Division, and the Director of the Western Provincial Intelligence Division, SSP H.C.A.Pushpakumara as the Chief of Puttalam Division and Director of the Property Management Division SSP K.M.U.P. Kalupahana as the chief in charge of the Bandarawela Division, Ministry of Defense Coordinating Officers SSP Amal Edirimanna as the Police Chief in charge of the Batticaloa Division and Superintendent of Police N.R.H.P. Gunasekara who was working in the Police Transport Division as the Director of Property Management Division and Superintendent of Police H.M.N.N. Herath who was working in the Gampaha Division has also been transferred as the Director of the Human Rights Division.
