Chief Sanganayaka of Western Province, the Chief incumbent of the Abhayaramaya, the Chairman of the Public Services Nurses Union Most Ven. Muruththettuwe Ananda Thera marked his 80th birthday anniversary yesterday.
The Thera born to a respectable family in Muruththettuwa, a rural village in the Sabaragamuwa Province completed his Pirivena Education after being ordained as a Buddhist monk.With the blessings of Most Ven. Pathberiye Dhammaloka Thera and Most Ven. Radelle Panyaloka Thera and as a Bhikkhu of Kotte Kalyana Samagri Dhamma Sadha, the Ven. Muruththettuwe Ananda Thera initiated national, religious and social services.
The contribution made by Ven. Muruththettuwe Ananda Thera in rescuing the country and the nation from the menace of terrorism for over 30 years is significant.
The leadership given by the Thera in commencing various Bhikku and national organizations and mobilizing patriotic monks in the country was commendable.
