Navy helps douse fire at mill

The Navy was pressed into action to put out a sudden fire which broke out at a mill in Werella area, Wattala in the wee hours of yesterday (27).

When the fire broke out on the ground floor of a two-storied building housing a mill in Werella, assistance was sought from the Operations Room of SLNS Gemunu in Welisara, to control the fire and prevent the spread of the flames to surrounding areas.

Accordingly, a firefighting team with a fire engine attached to SLNS Gemunu was rushed to the scene of the fire. Working shoulder to shoulder with the staff of the mill, the Navy firefighters helped extinguish the fire.
