SJB MP accuses NPP of spreading racism

Samagi Jana Balavegaya (SJB) Parliamentarian Hector Appuhamy yesterday said that the National People’s Power (NPP) is spreading racism in order to obtain votes at the Local Government Elections.

He said that the NPP, which has fallen to a lower level than people selling goods in the market, is showing its political nakedness by slandering and slinging mud at other political parties and party leaders.

Appuhamy made this comment while expressing his views on a comment made by the leader of the NPP leader Parliament Anura Kumara Dissanayake at a meeting held at Samanthurai.

He said that the SJB is a political party that represents all races and religions in this country and it is a party that treats all races equally.

Speaking further MP Hector Appuhamy said the SJB is the only party that represents all races. All races are treated and respected equally within our party. There are equal opportunities for everyone, within our party.

“We have submitted candidates for the Local Government Election, representing every nationality. At the same time, we always support the territorial integrity of our country, as a party. We do not segregate the people into races, like the Jathika Jana Balavegaya. We are not prepared to categorize the people to achieve political advantages. Leaders of the Jathika Jana Balavegaya visit various provinces and relate various types of stories. But, we engage in politics with a national plan. We do not engage in bankrupt politics like the Jathika Jana Balavegaya. We saw how they insulted the great Dalada Wahanse during the past few days. Engaging in politics while destroying religion and races cannot be approved of in any way. People are aware of the true nature of these people,” he said.
