Teacher removed from exam duties after complaints

North Central Assistant Provincial Director of Education (Examinations) S. R. Priyankara said a teacher deployed for examination duties of the ongoing Ordinary Level Examination duties was removed from examination duties based on the information  received from the parents that a group of students appearing for the Ordinary Level examination was helped by the teacher concerned.

He stated that a school teacher who was engaged in examination duty at Karukkankulam Vijayaba Vidyalaya, Anuradhapura was removed from examination duties. Priyankara said that the concerned teacher was removed from the examination duties and he was confirmed as a teacher who conducts tutoring classes in order to prevent future problematic situations.

He added that this errant teacher teaches mathematics and the mathematics subject is scheduled to be held next week and the removal of the teacher was done last week.

The Ordinary Level Examination started on May 29 and due to this incident, the examination duties of the concerned teacher were suspended on May 30 and another teacher assigned to the examination center.

He also stated that although the concerned teacher was warned and removed from examination duties, the teacher’s duties have not been suspended.
