Call for probe into Pastor Jerome’s ‘Miracle Dome’

SC to consider Pastor Jerome’s petition on July 28
Rs. 3.3 Bn spent for construction - Sanjeeva jayawardena PC

Sanjeeva Jayawardena PC said in the Supreme Court yesterday that an amount of Rs. 3.3 billion has been spent for the construction of the building called ‘Miracle Dome’ by Pastor Jerome Fernando, who made controversial remarks about Buddhism and other religions.

Sanjeeva Jayawardena PC said that a probe should be done to ascertain how the Pastor found such a large amount of money to construct the building where he conducts his sermons. He also mentioned that ‘Ubert Angel’, who is considered as his spiritual leader, has been accused of money laundering in Zimbabwe and has also been accused of gold smuggling.

He said this when the Supreme Court took up a Fundamental Rights petition filed by the Pastor Fernando seeking an interim restraining order preventing his arrest by the CID over his controversial remarks.

The Supreme Court decided yesterday (05) to consider the petition on July 28. Sanjeewa Jayawardena PC, was appearing for six religious leaders including Ven. Elle Gunawamsa Thera, who has submitted an interlocutory petition to dismiss the petition filed by Pastor Fernando.
