CID questions Major General Hendavitharana

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has questioned former Director General of Military Intelligence Major General Kapila Hendavitharana over the killing of rugby player Waseem Thajudeen.

A senior detective officer told the Daily News yesterday that Major General Hendavitharana had been questioned for around three hours in this regard on Monday evening.

Hendavitharana had obtained a phone detail report of Thajudeen from a certain mobile network company after the death of the ruggerite when he was working as DGMI.

The CID officer said that he had no requirement to ask for such a report though he held the position of DGMI.

The CID has already questioned several high ranking police officers including Traffic DIG Amarasiri Senaratne.

Narahenpita Police former Crime OIC Sumith Chinthaka Perera has been remanded on the charge of concealing information with regard to Thajudeen’s murder.

The CID has already prepared a list of 16 suspects who are allegedly responsible for the killing of Thajudeen. Two HQIs on duty in Narahenpita and Kirulapone are to be arrested.
