The Development Lotteries Board (DLB) will be launching their biggest ever jackpot in Sri Lanka's history, comprising Rs 10 billion and 50 motor cars. With research findings done through the DLB, the institute had made arrangements to launch a special high value lottery named the 'Highway Dream' to the market on November 08, 2013 and the draw will be held on December 30, 2013. This launch had also been introduced to coincide with the opening of the new expressway.

"This concept had been initiated once before and the tendency for the public receiving more wins and prizes had been noticed. Therefore, we believe that the public will benefit from the new lottery, once again, as a whole," DLB Chairman /CEO, Dr. Chandrawansa Pathiraja said. The specialty of this new lottery is the Rs. 10 billion super jackpot and 50 brand new cars for 50 lucky winners at the draw.

The DLB had fulfilled its social responsibility to the masses and making winners of fortunes whilst also fulfilling its corporate responsibility as a public institution in generating sustainable funds for the President's Fund of Sri Lanka, where funds of nearly Rs. 40 million is anticipated to be donated to the Health Sector after profits and prize presentations, this year.

"Rs. 1.9 billion was provided last year and this being the biggest amount so far for the past 30 years since the institute's inception and we are hoping to provide a bigger fund this year," Dr. Pathiraja said.

Vijitha Somaratne, Deputy General Manager, Finance said that approximately Rs. 1.8 billion had been accumulated in revenue, from January to September, 2013.
