Sunanda Kodagoda receives Vishvabhinandana Award

Sunanda Kodagoda was awarded the Vishavabhinandana Award by the Ministry of Cultural & Arts of Western Province. This award is being awarded by the Ministry of Cultural & Arts to the artists who have rendered an outstanding service to the field of literature in various fields of art.

Governor of the Western Province Marshal of the Air Force Roshan Gunathilake and Chief Secretary of Western Province Pradeep Yasaratne participated in this event as the Chief Guests, which was held at the Western Province Aesthetic Resort.

Seventy-five artists representing various art fields were awarded for their competence in various fields, and Sunanda was awarded for the service rendered in the field of photography. Sunanda Kodagoda received his award from Governor of Western Province Marshal of the Air Force Hon. Roshan Gunathilake.

Sunanda served as a journalist, photographer, and has been able to win numerous awards in his career in the field of literature for more than fifty years and in the field of photography for over forty years.

Regional reporter of ‘Dawasa,’ ‘Riviresa’ featured in “Nara nataka” by Sunanda Kodagoda, who began his writing career with sarcastic creations. In addition to Sunanda is a creative contributor to the newspapers, Madhu Madhavi Kavi magazine, Poet, Viridu, songs, also the scripts wrote for the famous drama series called “Copi Kade” on Independent Television Network’s.

In 2006, Sunanda marked his career in photography by winning the first place in the photography amateur category at the 35th island-wide photography competition and exhibition held by the Sri Lanka National Photographic Art Society. Kodagoda has been photographed on many occasions since then; he has won first, second, third places, and merit awards in competitions.

Sunanda holds photography diplomas from Sri Lanka National Photographic Art Society, Hagoda Seya Art Institute, Phototechnica School of Photography and has received the “ANPAS” Honorary Award from Sri Lanka National Photographic Art Association and “LILSP” membership of the Sri Lanka National Photographic Art Association. He has also organized the 39th Annual Photography Exhibition of the Sri Lanka National Photographic Art Association in 2012/2013. Sunanda Kodagoda, a retired Deputy manager of the People’s Bank, is also a former secretary of the Maharagama District Cultural Council.
