All systems go for Innotech 2020

With the aim of  showcasing research and development outcomes and innovations of institutes and universities whilst  promoting science literacy at all levels of the society, the Ministry of Higher Education, Information and Technology will host Sri Lanka's first national technology exhibition Innotech 2020 from March 11th to 14th this year.

The exhibition which will be open until the 14th will be inaugurated on the 11th under the patronage of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa. The purpose of the exhibition will be to showcase research and development outcomes and innovations of institutes and universities.

To inculcate a liking among students for technology innovation and to promote science literacy at all levels. The exhibition which will see the participation of 130 local schools and 15 local universities will serve as a platform for school and university students, tertiary and higher education institutions to popularize their inventions. An android based app has been developed to enable visitors to navigate the many facets of the exhibition with ease and convenience.

The exhibition will also see the launch of a dedicated faculty for technological sciences of the University of Sri Jayawardenapura. It is envisioned that the exhibition will create enthusiasm among the younger generation to engage in technological studies, while start ups will be encouraged to explore options to scale.  

The exhibition is organized under the guidance of Minister of Higher Education, Technology and Innovation Dr. Bandula Gunawardena, in collaboration with Minister of Education Dullas Alahapperuma under the chairmanship of State Minister of Technology and Innovation Thilanga Sumathipala.
